An infuriated native Californian speaks out.

Pamela Overholtzer, I agree with you!

I was born on a Jersey dairy in Artesia, California Artesia is a small city in southeast Los Angeles County, California, United States and is one of the Gateway Cities. It was incorporated on May 29, 1959. The population was 16,380 at the 2000 census. , not far from LA and Long Beach, in 1937. In the '50's California was mostly citrus, vineyards, agriculture of all kinds because of the mostly mild climate, which later started drawing people. Artesia's dairies got crowded out: they moved to the Chino Chino (chē`nō), city (1990 pop. 59,682), San Bernardino co., S Calif.; founded 1887, inc. 1910. It is the business and processing center of a diversified farming (notably dairying) area.  area. Now they are being crowded out there.

For some reason "city folk" want to escape "city life" by moving to the country. City folk like to move to rural areas and commute to jobs - then they complain about the dust blown by the winds when the farmlands are plowed, they complain about the few chemicals farmers are stilled allowed to use, they complain about odors. Pretty soon the taxes get too high because of all the fancy houses being built, land becomes too expensive to use for agriculture or dairies - now what?

California pays such good benefits (food stamps, welfare, etc.) people flock here in herds! Native Californians are getting sick of this. Businesses are moving out of California because of the increased taxation (to support all the outlanders Outlanders is a long-running series of science-fiction novels published by Gold Eagle, an imprint of Harlequin Enterprises.

There's nothing much wrong with Californians, not the natives - try asking the invaders what's wrong with them, and why they came here.

P.S. I live way "beyond the sidewalks." I make my power, pipe spring water, raise goats, chickens, and butchered a hog and beef. I'm also a widow with a full-time job.
