Memphis is a city in the southwest corner of Tennessee, and the county seat of Shelby County. Memphis rises above the Mississippi River on the 4th Chickasaw Bluff just below the mouth of the Wolf River.

One of the top winners in this year's Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, she will attend Maryland Institute College of Art Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is an art university in Baltimore, Maryland. It was founded in 1826, making it the oldest accredited art college in the United States.  in the fall. JS spoke with Ebony about her passion--making art.

JS: How did you first become interested in drawing?

ER: I used to watch Spider-Man, and my parents used to be into Dungeons Dungeons may refer to:
  • the plural form of Dungeon, part of a medieval castle that is either the keep or an underground prison
  • shorthand for Dungeons & Dragons, a fantasy role-playing game
 & Dragons. They used to draw the characters. I started trying to redraw To redisplay an image on screen whether text or graphics. The concept is that the first time elements are displayed, they are "drawn," and if something is changed, they are "redrawn." Applications often have a Refresh command that redraws the screen.  my parents' [images], and then I started to draw my own.

JS: Where do you get your ideas for your paintings?

ER: Everywhere. I'll go outside and see something I like. I try to remember it, and draw it. The students here [at my school] and their awesome art inspire me. And I love artists Gustav Klimt [and] John Singer Sargent.

JS: What advice do you have for other young artists?

ER: Find anyone who's going to inspire you.... [Success] doesn't come overnight. You have to work at it.

JS: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

ER: In a classroom, teaching other kids. I want to be able to show kids that there is more than just drawing in art.
