An apple a day.

An Apple A Day

Back in 1989, we whispered about Melvyn Bell buying the Red Apple Inn on Greers Ferry Lake. Bell denied reports that he had purchased the resort.

An interested party called us to set the record straight once and for all.

Bell did buy out the partners in Red Apple Enterprises Ltd., but the deal didn't close until last year. He originally invested about $175,000 in the limited partnership. The remaining 17 players kicked in about $825,000 to bring the total to $1 million.

No report on how much Bell paid to take out the other limited partners with Clay Gring.
