An abstract look at everyday life.

Byline: Alistair Baptista

ART fans will get views of everyday life through the eyes of established Bahraini artist Balqees Fakhro at her latest exhibition to open on Saturday.

The untitled exhibition will feature about 20 works, in modern and abstract art in acrylic acrylic, artificial fiber made from a special group of vinyl compounds, primarily acrylonitrile. Acrylic fibers are thermoplastic (i.e., soften when heated, reharden upon cooling), have low moisture regain, are low in density, and can be made into bulky fabrics.  with mixed media.

It will be held at the Courtyard gallery, Hamala, under the patronage of Culture and Information Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.

Ms Fakhro is a member of several art societies and committees.

"My technique, which is influenced by modern abstract expressionism abstract expressionism, movement of abstract painting that emerged in New York City during the mid-1940s and attained singular prominence in American art in the following decade; also called action painting and the New York school. , relies heavily on areas of colour and texture, which I like to think of as visual music," she said.

"I use the colour yellow in many of my paintings, which to me evokes optimism, hope, and new beginnings, such as the rising of the sun at the start of a new day.

"I also like the colour grey and its many contrasting shades, which reminds me of cloudy cloudy (clou´de)

days associated with happy childhood memories.

"The individual subject matter of my paintings is trivial, as I tend to repeat basic themes that carry a philosophical depth, and include creating a sense that one is in a cave, tent, or any form of primitive living.

"I use diagonal, horizontal, and vertical strokes and lines to create either a dynamic or static atmosphere.

"The size of my paintings also adds to the overall effect, as larger paintings magnify mag·ni·fy

"I aim to evoke feelings of existentialism existentialism (ĕgzĭstĕn`shəlĭzəm, ĕksĭ–), any of several philosophic systems, all centered on the individual and his relationship to the universe or to God. , optimism, and contracting pessimism pessimism, philosophical opinion or doctrine that evil predominates over good; the opposite of optimism. Ms Fakhro told the GDN GDN Garden (postal suffix)

that her art gave liberty to viewers to decide what they saw in it and chose to leave the majority of her work untitled in keeping with her philosophy.

"I prefer that the viewer decides what he sees, some have titles, because I repeat a lot of the themes, but they all focus on everyday events or things that are part of everyday life, reality far away from fancy things," she said.

"When you paint modern and abstract it's something individual, something from your own point of view, so I just paint everyday objects as I see them."

An opening ceremony will be held on Saturday at 7pm at the Courtyard gallery.

The exhibition will remain open from 10am to 7pm daily, except for Fridays, until November 26.
