An International Fellow.


Rafael Vinoly Architects announced that the Council of the Royal Institute of British Architects The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is a professional body for architects in the United Kingdom.

Originally named the Institute of British Architects in London
 has recently approved the award of an International Fellowship to Rafael Vinoly, the firm's principal.

The fellowships reward the particular contributions of non-UK architects whose 'outstanding work the RIBA RIBA Royal Institute of British Architects  wishes to mark' and will be presented on February 15, 2006.

Rafael Vinoly is one of six international architects to become an inaugural International Fellow. He will be awarded this new honor alongside Bernard Tschumi Bernard Tschumi (born January 25 1944 Lausanne, Switzerland) is an architect, writer, and educator. Born of French and Swiss parentage, he works and lives in New York and Paris. He studied in Paris and at ETH in Zurich, where he received his degree in architecture in 1969. , Massimiliano Fuksas Massimiliano Fuksas is an Italian architect, born in Rome in 1944. He received his degree in Architecture from the La Sapienza University in 1969 in Rome, where he opened his first office. Subsequent offices were opened in Paris (1989) and Vienna (1993). , Wolf Prix, Shigeru Ban and Peter Eisenman, each of whom is now accorded the privilege of using Int FRIBA FRIBA Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects  after their name.

RIBA president Jack Pringle described them as "giants on the world stage of architecture."

"It goes without saying that this fellowship is a great honor and I am delighted that the Royal Institute has accorded me the privilege of joining such an illustrious circle," said Rafael Vinoly.
