An Incredible Year for Luther Vandross Continues with Two American Music Award Nominations.

This has been a year of extreme highs and extreme lows for superstar Luther Vandross. On the eve of the release of his latest album Dance With My Father, Luther suffered a life-threatening stroke last spring from which he is still recovering. His tragedy sparked a major outpouring from fellow artists and fans who rushed to host prayer vigils, tributes and celebrations of Luther's unparalleled career. The national outpouring propelled Dance With My Father to a startling #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart. To date, the album has sold more than 1.3 million copies in the U.S. making it Luther's fastest selling album. The single "Dance With My Father" soared at radio and became the #1 R&B adult song for 4 weeks.

Now, Luther Vandross and his family can celebrate the fact that he has been nominated for two American Music Awards. He has been nominated in the Soul and R&B categories of Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album. Luther's mother, Mary Vandross, will attend the awards on November 16th in Los Angeles to cheer on her son.

The artist's sixteenth album, Luther Vandross Live at Radio City Music Hall 2003, is a virtual "best of" featuring six #1 hits -I'd Rather, Never Too Much, Stop to Love, Take You Out plus Here and Now which was a Grammy winner. Other Luther signature cuts include Superstar, House is Not a Home, Love Won't Let Me Wait, Glow of Love, If Only For One Night and Creepin'.
