An Inaugural Ball for a Difference.

Join Servant Forge in Washington, D.C., on January 20th.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After spending $6 billion to elect a president it is now time to focus our attention on the humanitarian and compassionate strength of our country and of our people. The Servant Forge Humanitarian Inaugural Ball will celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States on Sunday, January 20, 2013. It is an affirmation that we are a country that understands the importance and power of a peaceful transition of government.

All proceeds from this bipartisan event will support initiatives that advocate for justice, compassion, and raise awareness about the health and safety of women here at home in the United States--in Alexandria, Virginia, Baltimore, Maryland, and in Washington, DC--and in Africa--in Kenya and Swaziland. These initiatives will include Alexandria's Domestic Violence Program and Sexual Assault Center, the Alexandria Mentoring Partnership, the SOHO-Space of Her Own creative mentorship program, the Living Classrooms Foundation, and the Gang Prevention, Intervention and Prevention and Education Program. Programs in Africa that benefit will include iLEAD, Ignitus Worldwide, The Luke Commission, and the Kenya Gender-Based Violence Partnership.

"The mission of Servant Forge in the United States and in Africa is to help provide a voice and empower women who have known only oppression and abuse. This inaugural ball is a place to celebrate the work of organizations engaged in this mission." Colleen Copple, co-founder of Servant Forge.

Of all the inaugural balls, this is the only humanitarian ball, and it will be a great event, lots of fun, with plenty to celebrate. Held in the historic Terminal A of the Reagan-National Airport, the ball's theme is Wings of Hope, Empowerment and a Voice for Women from King Street to Kenya. Admission is $155 per person and includes hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine bar and live entertainment provided by The Kelly Bell Band, voted Best Blues Band in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the past 12 years in a row.

Servant Forge advances projects that transform individuals and communities toward better health, safety, education, and prosperity. Our goal is to build leaders and challenge citizens to embrace service as a means to improve the world around them.
