Ten education and development specialists from the World Bank and the countries of Singapore Singapore (sĭng`gəpôr, sĭng`ə–, sĭng'gəpôr`), officially Republic of Singapore, republic (2005 est. pop. 4,426,000), 240 sq mi (625 sq km). , Korea, Vietnam, and Ireland contribute to a report stemming from a 2006 study tour to Singapore and Vietnam organized by the World Bank for senior education officials from six African nations. The text and study tour program provide a comparative analysis of choices and implementation strategies employed by a selection of countries to develop their education and economic systems, over 30 to 40 years, from a situation similar to that of many Sub-Saharan African countries.
