Amy's party trick; STAR TO PLAY TWO HOGMANAY GIGS.


POP star Amy Macdonald Amy Macdonald may refer to:

 is ready to pull off a special party trick - by playing two Hogmanay gigs.

The chart-topping Scot will lead celebrations in Glasgow's George Square in front of 10,000 revellers.

Then she will dash across the city to the BBC's new studios on the banks of the Clyde to appear on Hogmanay Live Hogmanay Live is BBC Scotland's annual live event programme broadcast from Edinburgh Castle's Great Hall on Hogmanay, though in some previous years it was held at BBC Scotland's studios in Glasgow. Occasionally the programme is networked across the United Kingdom on BBC One. , hosted by Jackie Bird.

Amy, 19, can't believe she will bring The Bells in to thousands of homes across Scotland.

This time last year she was a struggling singer - now she has sold more than 400,000 copies of her debut album This Is The Life.

Boring She said: "My past couple of New Years have been so boring, I wanted to do something I'd really remember this year.

"Now I won't face the hassle of going to a party at a mate's then the annual nightmare of a two-hour wait for a taxi to get home.

"There's something to be said for performing for a 10,000-strong crowd of happy Glaswegians."

Amy will take the stage before Dundee band The View, who shot to fame in 2007 with No.1 debut album Hats Off To The Buskers.

Then she will appear on the BBC BBC
 in full British Broadcasting Corp.

 Hogmanay bash with WetWetWet star Marti Pellow Marti Pellow (born Mark McLachlan on 23 March, 1965 in Clydebank) is the lead singer of the Scottish pop group Wet Wet Wet. He has also achieved a successful solo career.

Pellow enjoyed success with Wet Wet Wet throughout the late 1980s and 1990s.

She said: "It was amazing to read the Sunday Mail TV guide, see Hogmanay Live in the listings and think, I'm going to be part of that. I'll perform Mr Rock And Roll and This Is The Life, then join Phil and Aly for Caledonia."

The Hogmanay events round off an incredible year for the lass from Bishopbriggs.

She scored hit singles with Mr Rock And Roll, LA and the title track of her album and appeared with big-name acts Elton John, Paul Weller and her music heroes, Travis.

She added: "The thing which really capped 2007 was a sell-out gig at Barrowland this month. The crowd went mental."

Amy hopes to crack America in 2008. She said: "It's such a huge nation, it's like making it 10 times over.

"There's something really cool about being able to say you're a success in the US."

Amy's tour schedule is so hectic she will not release a follow-up album until 2009.

She said: "I had a bit of time off over Christmas so I've been able to write new material.

"I already have a couple of tracks I'm really happy with."
