State-of-the-art facility in Matrix-owned Northeast Business

Park to open in 1997

The relocation of Amway's Northeast Service Center to Washington Township was officially announced at a gathering of Amway Corp., Matrix Development Group and Washington Township officials this morning.

Amway is purchasing 11.1 acres in the Northeast Business Park in Washington Township and is beginning construction of a 113,306 square foot facility to be used to warehouse and distribute products to independent Amway distributors and customers in a 14-state area.

In his remarks today, Tom Ehler, manager of the Amway Northeast Service Center said, "Our choice was to either upgrade our current facility or look for a new site where we could incorporate the technology changes we believe are necessary to keep Amway moving toward the 21st century. This new building will be designed to accommodate state-of-the-art material handling equipment and will increase our operational efficiency. We feel Matrix's Northeast Business Park is an ideal location for this facility."

Northeast Business Park affords Amway an accessible, convenient and thriving distribution point. The Park is located on the Exit 7A/Route 195 corridor and provides access to the New Jersey Turnpikes

"We think 7A represents the commercial and industrial growth market of the `90s," said Joe Taylor, president of Matrix, during the program. "Northeast Business Park has all the critical ingredients for success: key roadway access, an excellent labor pool, plentiful land, and an affordable tax rate. A key element in the success of this transaction and of Northeast Business Park is the tremendous cooperation we have received from local officials here and in the county. They worked with us to develop a zoning package that would help the township plan for its future growth."

Rosemary Pramuk, Washington Township deputy mayor, commented, "This is a wonderful example of the positive benefits to be gained when local governments and businesses work together. We are grateful for all the time and effort Matrix has put into the future of Washington Township."

Matrix recently received the Mercer County Mercer County is the name of several counties in the United States:
