Amtech Systems Inc. Announced $1.8 Million Order from the #1 Producer of Analog Semiconductor Chips.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Amtech Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:ASYS), a global supplier of production and automation systems and related supplies for the semiconductor, silicon wafer, solar cell solar cell, semiconductor devised to convert light to electric current. It is a specially constructed diode, usually made of silicon crystal. When light strikes the exposed active surface, it knocks electrons loose from their sites in the crystal.  and MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) Tiny mechanical devices that are built onto semiconductor chips and are measured in micrometers. In the research labs since the 1980s, MEMS devices began to materialize as commercial products in the mid-1990s.  (microelectromechanical system microelectromechanical system (MEMS)

) industries, today announced that the world leader of analog semiconductor chips awarded the Company a $1.8 million order for its Bruce Technologies(R) horizontal diffusion furnaces on the last day of 2005, the end of its first quarter of fiscal 2006. This order and the $5.1 million system order announced August 16, 2005 indicate that Amtech is making good progress in rejuvenating the diffusion furnace systems business from the installed customer base of Bruce Technologies, Inc., as anticipated at the time the business was acquired in July 2004.

The order is from the world's largest producer of analog chips and the world's third-largest semiconductor company in 2004 in terms of revenue, according to according to
