Amscot Financial Contributes to Lighthouse Central Florida, Serving Children Who Are Blind or Have Impaired Vision.
APOPKA, Fla., Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Amscot Financial, a leading provider of convenient, consumer-oriented financial services, invites all to come out and have fun "the Amscot way" at its open house on Saturday, December 9, 2006 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3030 East Semoran Blvd. in Apopka. Amscot Financial will present a $1,000 contribution to Lighthouse Central Florida and to Charity Challenge, Inc.
Lighthouse Central Florida. Since 1976, Lighthouse Central has served adults and children with low vision and blindness by providing professional rehabilitation and training programs in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Sumter counties. Headquartered near downtown Orlando, Lighthouse is the sole non-profit provider of comprehensive vision rehabilitation services in the Central Florida area. Amscot's contribution will go toward supporting the children's programs at Lighthouse.
Charity Challenge. Charity Challenge, Inc. was founded in 1987 by Florida State Senator Lee Constantine of Altamonte Springs. Young adults from throughout Central Florida compete in six challenging, fun-filled, co-ed athletic events, while giving back to the community at the same time. Charity Challenge and the athletic event have grown into Central Florida's largest independent charity, raising $5 million over the past 19 years.
During the Amscot open house event, children's entertainment will be provided by clown Jennifer Jordan. Radio station WPYO-95.3 will broadcast live from Amscot's parking lot and give away prizes. Free refreshments will also be provided.
At the Amscot grand opening, the Child Protection Education of America, Inc. (CPEA), a national nonprofit organization for missing children based in Tampa, will also be available on site to provide free fingerprinting for children through their "ID ME NOW" program.
The program produces a state-of-the-art, specially designed card for parents to keep. The card contains a set of the child's digital fingerprints, a black and white photo, a dental chart, and instructions on how to do a simple DNA collection. Safety brochures are provided with the fingerprint card, as well as an envelope containing further information on how to complete the child safety kit.
This information can assist parents and law enforcement officers involved with a missing child case. An interactive child safety CD-ROM can also be purchased for $5 at the event with profits going to the CPEA for creating the CD-ROM.
