The study is produced and managed by Amplitude Research(R) relying on survey data collected from its proprietary Panelspeak(TM) web panel.

The 2005 results indicate a very high level of satisfaction with a career in technology, with significant improvement from 2004 and 2003 in the timing of salary increases. Ease in finding a new job is at the highest levels since the annual study began in 2002, and job security continues to improve when compared with the 2003 and 2002 results. Birnkrant noted that "when we limited the analysis to respondents who indicated that they work for a company that currently outsources technology jobs, the results indicate similar levels of improved attitudes when compared to 2004."

The study was conducted over a 20-day period beginning on September 12, 2005 and ending on October 1, 2005. There were 615 survey respondents, of which over 71% have worked in the technology sector for six years or more. The margin of error was 3.93% at a 95% confidence level.
