Ample Communications Introduces RoHS Compliant, Lead-Free MACs; Environmentally Friendly ICs Meet New Standards Set by the European Union.


FREMONT, Calif. -- Ample Communications, a leading provider of communications silicon for wire line network systems, today announced the availability of a fully RoHS-compliant version of its Harrier harrier, breed of dog

 family of 10/100/1000 Ethernet MACs, which meet the European Union's (EU) directive entitled "Restrictions on the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)" 2002/95/EC. Ample is in full compliance with the EU's guidelines and is wholly committed to promoting a cleaner world for the future.

The Ample team implemented the conversion of its Harrier family well ahead of the July 2006 deadline in order to meet specific requirements from key customers shipping large quantities of 1GE port. With this lead-free solution, Ample will continue to foster its current international customer relationships as well as develop additional ones after the July deadline takes effect. The company is also now well prepared when similar requirements in Japan, China and U.S. take place.

RoHS compliant 10/100/1000 Ethernet MAC devices are available now. The 12 port Harrier-12 devices can be ordered under part number A2510R-B4, and the 24 port Harrier-24 devices can be ordered under part number A2510R-B4.
