Amphus Completes Tests Validating Heterogeneous Capabilities of IPMI Management; ManageSite Successfully Tested with 7 Different Server Models Thus Far.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 2003

Amphus today announced that, to date, the company has successfully tested seven different models of IPMI-compliant servers to assure they work properly with Amphus' ManageSite(TM) server management software. Manufactured by a variety of hardware vendors, each of these server models is compliant with IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) A protocol for monitoring server hardware for temperature, voltage, chassis intrusion, etc. Introduced in 1998 by Intel, HP, NEC and Dell, IPMI defines a standard set of messages for the characteristics of hardware  version 1.5. This validates the company's earlier announcement that ManageSite 2.0 is capable of managing heterogeneous pedestal, rack and blade servers that are IPMI-compliant, as well as vendor-specific blade servers.

Amphus ManageSite is the first server management application to leverage IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specification defines a set of common interfaces to computer hardware and firmware which system administrators can use to monitor system health and manage the system. Several dozen companies support IPMI. ) for enterprise and data center environments. ManageSite manages, monitors and provisions groups of servers at a time, from bare metal through the operating system. Using the IPMI standard enables ManageSite to monitor individual server hardware status such as CPU CPU

, memory and network utilization as well as temperature, voltage and fan speed to simplify alerts and automate routine operations. The ManageSite solution can be applied across all of the individual servers, enabling management and provisioning across entire enterprises and data centers from a single Web interface. ManageSite works across these environments regardless of whether the servers are turned on or the operating systems are operational.

IPMI originated from the collaboration of Dell (Nasdaq:DELL), Hewlett Packard (NYSE NYSE

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.
(Nasdaq:NIPNY). It defines the interfaces for system monitoring and management of intelligent hardware, and has been adopted by over 150 hardware companies.

"Our test results validate our choice of IPMI 1.5 as the enabling interface that allows us to solve the management problems of entire enterprises and data centers," said Henry Fung, Chairman CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and of Amphus. "We are fully committed to IPMI and ready to update ManageSite to be IPMI version 2.0-compliant as soon as that version of the standard is introduced by Intel." Fung commented that he believes Intel will announce the version 2.0 standard at this week's Intel Developer's Forum.

Amphus also announced that it has struck a marketing partnership with OSA 1. OSA - Open Scripting Architecture.
2. OSA - Open System Architecture.
Technologies, which supplies off-the-shelf IPMI firmware and software to server manufacturers. With the partnership, Amphus refers ODMs and OEMs that need to build IPMI firmware and software into their server products to OSA Technologies. In turn, OSA Technologies refers enterprises, ODMs and OEMs who need to provision and manage multiple servers and data centers to Amphus.
