Amphenol Announces Purchase Of Matrix Science Assets From AMP Incorporated.


WALLINGFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 1997--Amphenol Corporation (NYSE-APH) today announced that it has closed an agreement with AMP Incorporated to purchase certain tooling, equipment, inventory, intellectual property including the "Matrix" name and related assets used by AMP to manufacture certain cylindrical cyl·in·dri·cal

Formerly known as the Matrix Science Corporation, the operation has long been a major supplier of cylindrical pin-and-socket connectors for military and aerospace applications. AMP purchased the company in 1988 as a wholly-owned subsidiary and operated it out of Torrance, CA as a part of the company's Federal Systems Division until merging the subsidiary and moving most of its operations to Pennsylvania Pennsylvania (pĕnsəlvā`nyə), one of the Middle Atlantic states of the United States. It is bordered by New Jersey, across the Delaware River (E), Delaware (SE), Maryland (S), West Virginia (SW), Ohio (W), and Lake Erie and New York  in 1995.

Amphenol will add the Matrix brand name to its product catalog catalog, descriptive list, on cards or in a book, of the contents of a library.
