:AIS) announced today that on December 31, 1999 its wholly-owned Israeli subsidiary invested $6 million for a 50% equity interest in Am-Hal Ltd. ("Am-Hal"). Upon completion of the transaction, which is subject to the approval of the relevant authorities, Ampal will hold 100% of Am-Hal, the owner and manager of the "Ad - 120" chain of luxury senior citizen facilities in Israel.

The chain includes an existing facility in Rishon Le'Zion, Israel, which has 160 apartments and two geriatric geriatric /ger·i·at·ric/ (jer?e-at´rik)
