 is Norman Podhoretz Norman Podhoretz (b. January 16, 1930) is an American conservative columnist and political scientist, a leftist commentator during the 1960's and associated with Neoconservative philosophy since the early 1970's. , for 35 years editor of Commentary. He started as a literary critic--a student of Trilling Tril·ling   , Lionel 1905-1975.

American literary critic whose works include Beyond Culture (1965) and Sincerity and Authenticity (1972).

 and Leavis--and then branched into politics, as the times seemed to demand. He made Commentary a magazine of great national importance. Formerly on the left--though never anti-American--he became a conservative, and a Bible Bible [Gr.,=the books], term used since the 4th cent. to denote the Christian Scriptures and later, by extension, those of various religious traditions. This article discusses the nature of religious scripture generally and the Christian Scriptures specifically, as  scholar, to boot: In 2002, he published a book on the prophets. President Bush has done well in hanging this medal around Norman Podhoretz's neck, even as the recipient has done well by his country.
