 to his house and worse yet to an attic where he can never be seen by an outsider. He has two older brothers who go to school and live perfectly normal lives. What is going on? It's the future and the government has mandated that each household have a maximum of two children, with severe financial punishments if another child is allowed to be born.

 happy to find a companion, but finds Jen to be more than he can handle. Jen questions authority, the Population Police, and the government. Ironically, her father is a member of the Population Police and it's a well-known fact that most government employees defy the law by having a "shadow child."
