Amnis Systems Inc. (formerly Optivision Inc.), a leading global provider of networked streaming video A one-way video transmission over a data network. Specifically, Amnis will port its SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc.  compatible network management software components to the HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.

Amnis products are designed for broadband IP-based networks requiring high quality video distribution. These products serve a variety of applications including surveillance, interactive distance learning, corporate communications, training and content distribution. The Amnis products include a set of interoperable network attached hardware and software components compatible with industry standard network and video protocols. The network components are manageable utilizing Amnis' LiveMap(TM) software via standard protocols such as telnet and SNMP, enabling network management platforms like HP OpenView to deliver an efficiently managed and controlled environment.
