Amkor Technology Appoints Gene Norrett SVP for Strategic Business Development.

WEST CHESTER, Penn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 1999--

Amkor Technology (Nasdaq:AMKR), the world's largest provider of contract semiconductor packaging and test services, announces the addition of Gene Norrett as Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Development. Mr. Norrett, a former executive with Gartner Group/Dataquest and Motorola, will focus on aligning Amkor's strategic business initiatives as the outsourcing market for semiconductor packaging services continues to expand.

Norrett comes to Amkor with over 30 years of semiconductor research and management experience. For the past 16 years, he was with Gartner Group/ Dataquest, most recently as corporate vice president and Semiconductor Group director, responsible for worldwide research and analysis. This function also included the creation of one of the top annual industry conferences. Norrett also founded Dataquest's Japan and Asian semiconductor research and was President of Dataquest Japan.

Prior to Dataquest, Norrett held several important positions during a 14-year career at Motorola Semiconductor, including manager of business planning and product marketing manager in the Integrated Circuits Division. While at Motorola, he co-founded the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) program and served as its first chairman. Norrett holds a BA degree in Mathematics from Temple University and an MS degree from Villanova University
