Business Editors/Health/Medical Writers/High-Tech Writers

ROCKVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 8, 2003

On time delivery and product enhancements provide advantages to current and future customers and a viable future alternative for the healthcare payer information management system market

Amisys Synertech Inc. today announced the general availability of AMISYS Advance Release 1.00.04 for its enterprise-wide and mission-critical system. This highly robust and functional payer software application assists health plans with administrative functions, such as claims processing, membership, enrollment, capitation and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996, Public Law 104-191) Also known as the "Kennedy-Kassebaum Act," this U.S. law protects employees' health insurance coverage when they change or lose their jobs (Title I) and provides standards for patient health,  enablement.

"The release of AMISYS Advance 1.00.04 is a very significant milestone for our company," said Kevin Brown The name Kevin Brown can refer to several different people, including the following:
  • Kevin Brown (baseball) (b. 1965), a former Major League Baseball right-handed starting pitcher with 211 career wins
  • Kevin D. Brown (b.
, chief executive officer of Amisys Synertech Inc. "First and foremost, we can now provide our customers with a rational and extremely cost-effective migration to a new technology base, while maintaining all of the functionality, features, processing logic and user interface that was provided in the AMISYS 3000 system.

"AMISYS customers will not need to incur the high cost of changing products and will avoid the onerous prospect of a lengthy implementation process and high-risk conversion to a new product. Furthermore, competing systems do not provide the functional depth of AMISYS Advance. We have served our customers for an average of 10 years and we intend with AMISYS Advance to provide this same long-term value," Brown added.

Brown further commented that "we are firmly back in the business of offering a comprehensive managed care information system product that can be provided to the customer in three different delivery modes: a turnkey license, an application hosting arrangement or wrapped together with a wide range of Business Process Outsourcing Business process outsourcing (BPO) is the contracting of a specific business task, such as payroll, to a third-party service provider. Usually, BPO is implemented as a cost-saving measure for tasks that a company requires but does not depend upon to maintain its position in  services. Only Amisys Synertech can provide offerings with this kind of breadth, scalability and flexibility."

AMISYS Advance is the evolutionary replacement for AMISYS 3000. All of the 24 comprehensive interfaces in this enterprise-wide solution have been successfully migrated to the new release. AMISYS Advance runs on the Unix operating platform with an Oracle database and offers the same industry-leading functionality and high auto-adjudication rates as AMISYS 3000. During benchmark testing, AMISYS Advance reached the same functionality levels as AMISYS 3000. Existing customers will continue to realize the benefits, value and HIPAA enablement capabilities from their AMISYS investment.

"We achieved the transition from AMISYS 3000 to AMISYS Advance in the 15-month time frame we set for our ourselves and customers," said Kathy McCarthy, chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)
