Amir Nawab advocates social security and justice for workers.KARACHI,, July 30, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Sindh Minister for Labour, Amir Nawab has said a real and sustainable economic development is not possible without fulfilling the requirement of social justice - which is part of our religious and cultural traditions. He was speaking as chief guest at a seminar on Social Justice Declaration, organized by Pakistan Workers Federation Sindh in collaboration with International Labour Organization (ILO ILO abbr. International Labor Organization Noun 1. ILO - the United Nations agency concerned with the interests of labor International Labor Organization, International Labour Organization ). Labour Minister said human beings should be provided all basic facilities and justice without discrimination of race, colour, language and nationality nationality, in political theory, the quality of belonging to a nation, in the sense of a group united by various strong ties. Among the usual ties are membership in the same general community, common customs, culture, tradition, history, and language. . He pointed out that ILO represents all world nations and its declaration would assist nations in achievement of social justice. Social security too can provide social justice, he said and added that no matter in whatever shape the social security is, it exist in all developed and developing countries. He recalled that social security scheme in Pakistan was started at a very low level but now it has become the biggest scheme catering to workers interests. Labour Minister said Sindh Social Security Institution (SESSI SESSI Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (Pakistan) SESSI Service des Statistiques Industrielles, Ministère de l'Economie, des Finances et de l'Industrie, France (French) ) is financially assisting and providing better facilities to registered workers and their families including their parents. Similarly Employees Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI EOBI Employees Oldage Benefits Institution (Pakistan) ) is providing pension to a large part of population including aged, handicap handicap In sports and games, a method of offsetting the varying abilities or characteristics of competitors in order to equalize their chances of winning. Handicapping takes many, often complicated, forms. and poor. He said EOBI has increased the pension by 15 percent while minimum wage also raised to Rs.6000 per month. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Sindh Employees Social Security Institution Muhammad Naseer Jamali said over 500,000 workers are registered with SESSI in Sindh. He asked worker unions to get their workers registered with Sessi so that maximum number of them could avail the facility of social security, medical and financial benefits.
