Amicus Expands South Texas Services.

 ("Amicus") today announced that it has signed an exclusive five-year agreement with the McAllen Medical Center to provide wound care and hyperbaric therapy services for their hospital in South Texas.

In March 2006, Amicus began providing services to McAllen by acquiring and renovating a six-chamber hyperbaric center in McAllen. Since that time, utilization of the facility has increased 30%. Amicus intends to expand its wound care and hyperbaric services in the Rio Grande Rio Grande, city, Brazil

 region by opening another hyperbaric facility this winter.

"We are extremely pleased to expand our services to the South Texas region both by extending our existing agreements, but also by expanding our presence with new facilities," said Jim Bullard, Amicus' President. "Our growth in South Texas is part of our overall strategy to strengthen our services in Texas while becoming the largest provider of hyperbaric services to hospitals in the southwestern United States."

Hyperbaric therapy is a Medicare-approved therapy to treat wounds in diabetic patients and others. The majority of hyperbaric services is directed to the treatment of diabetic foot diabetic foot A foot with a constellation of pathologic changes affecting the lower extremity in diabetics, often leading to amputation and/or death due to complications; the common initial lesion leading to amputation is a nonhealing skin ulcer, induced by  wounds or wounds indirectly related to diabetes.

Amicus Hyperbaric Group, LLC was founded in 2003 to provide hyperbaric services to hospitals throughout the United States. Amicus, one of the largest providers of hyperbaric therapy services in Texas, has operations in Amarillo, Abilene, McAllen, Fort Worth, Floresville (a suburb of San Antonio) and Phoenix, Arizona.
