The program has been initiated by Amgen to honor two outstanding teachers in the greater Boulder County area. Award recipients receive a cash prize of $10,000. The 1996 award recipients are: -- Janet Chu, Science teacher for grades 9-12 at Fairview High School, Boulder Valley Public Schools -- Jerolyn Holland, 6th Grade teacher at Nevin Platt Middle School, Boulder Valley Public Schools The Award was established in 1991 by Amgen in Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964.
