Net sales for the 13-week fourth quarter period ended January 29, 2000, were $1.214 billion, compared with net sales for the 13-week period ended January 30, 1999 of $758 million, an increase of 60.2 percent. Net sales for the 52-week fiscal year ended January 29, 2000 were $3.841 billion, compared with $2.387 billion in the 52-weeks ended January 30, 1999, an increase of 60.9 percent.

Comparable-store sales for the four weeks ended January 29, 2000 were $119.5 million, compared with $113.3 million in the same four week period last year, an increase of 5.5 percent. Comparable-store sales for the 13 weeks ended January 29, 2000 were $740.1 million, compared with $718.5 million in the 13 weeks ended January 30, 1999, an increase of 3.0 percent. Comparable-store sales for the 52 weeks ended January 29, 2000 were $2.409 billion, compared with $2.269 billion for the 52 weeks ended January 30, 1999, an increase of 6.2 percent. Comparable store sales are based on 284 stores.

Joseph R.
