Ameron International Appoints William Smith President of Water Transmission Group.

) today announced the appointment of William M. Smith as Group President of the Water Transmission Group effective May 1, 2007. Smith is currently Senior Vice President of Manufacturing for the Group. Thomas P. Giese, currently the Group President of the Water Transmission Group, has announced his retirement effective November 2007 after a distinguished 45-year career at Ameron.

Smith joined Ameron in 1994 from L.B. Foster and Thompson Steel Pipe Company, where he held a number of management positions in engineering, manufacturing and operations management Operations management is an area of business that is concerned with the production of goods and services, and involves the responsibility of ensuring that business operations are efficient and effective. . Primavera joined Ameron in 1996, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University Valparaiso University, known colloquially as Valpo, is a private university located in the city of Valparaiso in the U.S. state of Indiana. Founded in 1859, it consists of five undergraduate colleges, a graduate school, and a law school. . Prior to joining Ameron, Primavera was with Chicago Bridge & Iron Company where he held various domestic and international positions.

David G. Tantalean, Group Vice President of Sales & Marketing-Southwest Region. He will also have sales and marketing responsibilities for the Group's operations in Mexico and South America. Tantalean joined Ameron in 1980, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University Arizona State University, at Tempe; coeducational; opened 1886 as a normal school, became 1925 Tempe State Teachers College, renamed 1945 Arizona State College at Tempe. Its present name was adopted in 1958. .

Richard I. Mueller, Group Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technical Services. Prior to joining Ameron in 2002, Mueller was Vice President of Gifford-Hill-American, Inc., a subsidiary of Hanson PLC. Mueller is a registered civil engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Masters in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University Southern Methodist University, at Dallas, Tex.; United Methodist; coeducational; chartered 1911. The school's facilities include laboratories for electron microscopy and stable isotopes, a museum of paleontology, and a graduate research center. .

Steven C. Steingraeber, Group Vice President of Sales & Marketing-Wind Towers. Steingraeber joined Ameron in 2001 and previously held several management positions with Chicago Bridge & Iron Company. Steingraeber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah The University of Utah (also The U or the U of U or the UU), located in Salt Lake City, is the flagship public research university in the state of Utah, and one of 10 institutions that make up the Utah System of Higher Education. .

Gabriel Perez, Division Vice President and General Manager of the Protective Linings Division. Perez joined Ameron in 2002. Perez holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Cervantes College in Guadalajara, Mexico.

James S. Marlen, Ameron's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Bill Smith has extensive experience in concrete and welded-steel piping systems and has been instrumental in Ameron's successful entry into the wind-tower market. I am confident that he will provide the leadership to capitalize on the growth opportunities in the Water Transmission business."
