Amerigon Ships Initial Climate Control Seat Order to Mark III for Customized Luxury Vehicle Installations; Mark III Nation's Largest Converter of Vans, Minivans, Trucks.


IRWINDALE, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--July 14, 1998--Amerigon Inc. (Nasdaq:ARGNA) Tuesday reported that it recently shipped an initial production order of its patented Climate Control Seat(TM) system (CCS (1) (Common Channel Signaling) A communications system in which one channel is used for signaling and different channels are used for voice/data transmission. Signaling System 7 (SS7) is a CCS system, also known as CCS7. See SS7. (TM)) to Ocala, Fla.-based Mark III Mark III can refer to:
  • Mark III (radio telescope), a radio telescope in England, constructed in 1966
  • Mark III (space suit), a NASA space suit prototype
  • Mark III (guitar), an electric guitar made by the Vox company
 Industries, the nation's leading manufacturer of conversion vans, minivans and trucks.

The CCS is being offered to Mark III customers as an option in its luxury models through its dealer network, which includes Chrysler, Ford and General Motors dealers. The companies had signed an agreement last fall, marking the first such OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  contract for Amerigon's proprietary CCS System. CCS is the world's first active temperature control system for motor vehicle seats, offering both warming and cooling at the touch of a finger without relying on the vehicle's engine or air conditioning air conditioning, mechanical process for controlling the humidity, temperature, cleanliness, and circulation of air in buildings and rooms. Indoor air is conditioned and regulated to maintain the temperature-humidity ratio that is most comfortable and healthful.  system.

 Richard A. Weisbart, the Mark III production order "is a major marketing milestone and supports our position as an emerging key player in the automotive accessory market place." Weisbart said that the company is also working with major-name auto manufacturers in North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim on programs to present the CCS system as a luxury option in near-future model years. At the same time, Amerigon has provided approximately 30 prototype seat models for review by the world's largest automakers and vehicle seat manufacturers.

Amerigon develops and markets proprietary high-technology products for the automotive market. Besides CCS, its products include Amerigon Radar Technology (ART) to extend the driver's field of view in such vehicle applications as enhanced parking aids and back-up warning systems.
