Americans say Romney\'92s remark on Russia provocative, poll.

WASHINGTON (C\u304 HAN)- Most of the Americans have criticized Republican presidential candidate race frontrunner Mitt Romney\'92s recent statement about Russia, a survey conducted by Chicago Tribune and U.S. News said.

In an interview with CNN earlier this week, Romney said Russia is \'93number one geopolitical foe,\'94 for the United States and it \'93lines up with the world's worst actors\'94 including Syria and Iran.

Seventy two percent of the surveyed said Romney\'92s remarks could do more damage than U.S. President Barack Obama\'92s remark about \'93flexibility\'94 during the meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Seoul. Twenty eight percent of the surveyed expressed the opposite opinion.

Romney\'92s comments came after President Obama was caught telling Medvedev on an open microphone that he would have "more flexibility" after his "last election" on the issue of a planned U.S.-led missile shield in Europe.

The criticism of the Republican presidential candidate was echoed by a group of 43 Republican senators, who signed a letter on Tuesday saying they would oppose any attempt to limit U.S. missile defense capabilities.

President Medvedev responded by advising Romney to \'93to use his head\'94 before making "Hollywood" style statements. (Cihan/Ria Novosti)
