Here Baker, a War of 1812 enthusiast and descendant of a veteran of that conflict, provides a complete transcript of the rosters of American prisoners of war held it Barbados, New Providence, and Newfoundland. He includes alphabetical listings by name, numeric listings by prisoner number, and crew listings by American and British ship. He also includes those whose service affiliation was not known, US Marines, and those who died as prisoners. This contains all the prisoners known to be in these facilities at the time, according to microfilmed copies of roster books of the British Admiralty kept in the Public Records Office of the UK. Baker warns that in some cases the spelling of names is probably phonetic.
