American establishes trust fund for murder victim's children.


IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 1997--American Savings Bank savings bank, financial institution that, until recently, performed only the following functions: receiving savings deposits of individuals, investing them, and providing a modest return to its depositors in the form of interest.  has established a trust account in memory of American employee and murder victim Yolanda Hubbard to benefit her three surviving children.

Hubbard, a loan consultant at American's Anaheim loan center, was shot in an apparent domestic dispute last weekend in Rancho Cucamonga Rancho Cucamonga (răn`chō k'kəmäng`gə), city (1990 pop. 101,409), San Bernardino co., S Calif. . The children's father is now in police custody for the crime.

"Yolanda was a bright light in our office; just having her around made everyone smile," said Eric Frazier, Anaheim loan center manager. "Even though she was with us just a short time, she had a positive and lasting influence on our team. We will miss her terribly."

An employee-sponsored fund, called "Americans Taking Care of Their Own," contributed the $5,000. This fund is supported with employee donations and matched by the company to help other employees and their families who are in need. American Savings Bank seeded the account with an initial amount to defray funeral expenses.

The trust fund will benefit Hubbard's three surviving children, 3-year-old twins and a 5 year old.
