American Woodmark breaks ground in Maryland.

American Woochmark Corp. of Winchester, VA, a manufacturer of cabinetry to the new home construction and remodeling industry, broke ground for a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Allegany County, MD. The company will invest $12 million in the plant's development and begin shipping to customers located in the Northeast and Midwest regions as early as January 2005.

The plant is expected to provide about 500 jobs once it is fully developed.
