For the second quarter of 1995, net income to common stock totaled $26.4 million, including $3.9 million or 6 cents a share resulting from the conclusion of litigation An action brought in court to enforce a particular right. Revenues recorded in the second quarter of 1996 totaled $228.6 million, which was 14 percent higher than revenues of $200.7 million recorded in the second quarter of last year.

"The second quarter of 1996 reflects continued progress for the company," said George W. Johnstone, president and chief executive officer. "During the quarter we successfully completed the first common stock offering in 41 years. The offering was received very well in the market, as we knew it would.

"The offering was important because it illustrated our ability to raise a significant amount of equity capital, which is important to our growth strategy. Proceeds from the offering were invested in the company's Pennsylvania Pennsylvania (pĕnsəlvā`nyə), one of the Middle Atlantic states of the United States. It is bordered by New Jersey, across the Delaware River (E), Delaware (SE), Maryland (S), West Virginia (SW), Ohio (W), and Lake Erie and New York  subsidiary to partially fund the acquisition of the water systems serving the Wilkes-Barre and Scranton metropolitan areas. That acquisition was completed this past February."

For the first six months of 1996, net income to common stock totaled $41.5 million, or 59 cents per share Cents per share
