The customer service center, when fully operational, will have approximately 325 associates serving more than 10 million customers in 23 states. The Center will begin recruiting almost immediately, start training in February 2001, and be fully operational by the second quarter of 2001.

On December 20, 2006, the corporation, also known as CBRE, completed acquisition of Trammell Crow Co. in a transaction valued at $2. , a commercial real estate and site selection firm, to select the final site from the 1,300 communities currently served by American. After several months of evaluation, Alton was selected as the preferred site.

Several sites in Alton are in consideration for the new call center.
