 announced today that Mr. Stephen F. Gorden has joined the company as vice president of corporate development.

Gorden comes to American Water Works with some 30 years of experience in the water utility industry. Since 1994, he has served as director of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, the third largest water and sewerage utility in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America.
