Water Board to manage the city's water system, which serves a population of 325,000 people. The contract is effective Sept. 1. The Buffalo water system produces and treats an average of 100 million gallons of water a day and includes more than 785 miles of pipe for transmission and distribution, two pumping stations and more than 40 million gallons of storage facilities. AmericanAnglian, based in Voorhees, N.J., is a joint venture of American Water Works Co. Inc., the largest water utility business in the U.S., and Anglian Water Plc., a British water and wastewater utility. AmericanAnglian provides water and wastewater services to municipalities through operation and management contracts.
