Fort Bragg is a major United States Army installation, in Cumberland and Hoke Counties, North Carolina, U.S.

The contract covers an evaluation phase that will result in the eventual acquisition, operation, and maintenance of the water, wastewater and gas utilities at the Army base in Fayetteville, North Carolina Fayetteville is a city located in Cumberland County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 121,015. It is the county seat of Cumberland County GR6, and is best known as the home of Fort Bragg, a U.S. . AWS will subcontract operation and management of the gas utilities to Duke Engineering & Services, a subsidiary of Duke Energy of Charlotte, North Carolina “Charlotte” redirects here. Following the evaluation phase, the acquisition and operating contract is expected to be awarded early next year. It will be a 50-year contract with estimated annual revenues to AWS of approximately $4.0 million ($2.5 million in annual revenue related to water and sewer), or $200 million over the expected life of the contract ($125 million related to water and sewer). Fort Bragg, with a population of 50,000, is the largest staging facility for the deployment of Army troops in the country.
