American Water Selected To Manage Sioux City's Wastewater Facility; 20-Year Contract Worth $114 million.

Sioux City (IPA: [su: 'sɪti]) is a city located in northwest Iowa in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 85,013.

American Water Services, a subsidiary of American Water, will partner with Sioux City to manage its existing treatment plant while implementing an estimated $26.1 million capital expansion project over the next two years.

"American Water proposed a solution that is not only highly cost effective, but will make significant improvements to our current facility and maintain a consistently high standard throughout the life of the contract."

The upgraded wastewater treatment facility will have increased capacity to treat 24 million gallons of wastewater per day, up from its current level of around 14 million gallons. This will deliver additional capacity to provide for any future expansion in the number of residents and businesses in the City. Furthermore, the new facilities will include state-of-the-art odor odor (o´der) a volatile emanation perceived by the sense of smell.
