American Water CEO Don Correll Elected to U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.


VOORHEES, N.J. -- American Water Works Company, Inc. (NYSE:AWK), the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, today announced that President and CEO Donald L. Correll has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He will serve for a term of two years.

The Board of Directors is the principal governing and policymaking body of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. With more than 100 corporate and small business leaders serving from all sectors and sizes of business, and from all regions of the country, the Board of Directors determines the U.S. Chamber's policy positions on business issues and advises the U.S. Chamber on appropriate strategies to pursue.

"In these challenging times, experienced leadership like Don's is vital to getting the business community and Americans back on their feet," said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Tom Donohue.

In his current role as president and CEO of American Water, Correll leads a team of more than 7,000 dedicated professionals who provide drinking water, wastewater and other related services to approximately 15 million people in 32 states and Ontario, Canada. He is responsible for developing the overall strategy and vision of American Water and directing its key business development initiatives.

Prior to joining American Water in 2006, Correll served as president and CEO of Pennichuck Corp., a New Hampshire-based water utility holding company. Correll also spent 25 years with United Water Resources, a leading investor-owned water services company, where he served as chairman, president and CEO.

Correll is currently the President of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), and serves on the boards of a variety of civic, professional and business organizations, including the Environmental Financial Advisory Board of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, HealthSouth Corporation and New Jersey Resources.

Correll is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and New York University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting, and master's in business administration in finance, respectively. He is also a certified public accountant in New York.
