CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American TriTech, a leading developer of graphical computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems for the public safety industry, Wednesday announced that it has completed development of a computer-aided dispatch system specifically designed to meet the demanding needs of law enforcement dispatch.

The company will preview a beta version A pre-shipping release of hardware or software that has gone through alpha test. A beta version of software is supposed to be very close to the final product, but, in practice, it is more a way of getting users to test the software in the first place under real conditions.  of VisiCAD for Law Enforcement for the first time publicly at the APCO APCO Association of Public Safety Communications Officials

The introduction marks American TriTech's entry into the law enforcement CAD market. The company has installed its high-performance Windows NT-based dispatch solutions, VisiCAD for Fire/EMS and VisiCAD for Ambulance, in more than 70 metro and wildland fire departments and private and public ambulance providers in six countries.

"Cities around the world can now have a fully integrated Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  dispatch solution for all their fire, EMS and law enforcement emergency dispatch needs with the high quality and support our customers have come to expect," said Sean McEwen, chairman and chief executive officer, American TriTech. "VisiCAD for Law Enforcement is designed to go beyond high-performance dispatching and play an integral role in improving the effectiveness of the entire operation by providing the ability to plan, implement and evaluate more effective strategies for serving communities."

American TriTech will commence an intensive beta program for the product this month. Full product availability is expected in the first quarter of 1998.

Designed to be the most comprehensive and feature-rich law enforcement CAD available, the system incorporates vehicle routing, high-resolution integrated mapping functionality, comprehensive graphical reports and full multiagency support.

The most powerful function of VisiCAD for Law Enforcement is the automatic vehicle location See mobile positioning.  (AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) See mobile positioning. )-equipped, high-resolution maps. Dispatchers can quickly and easily dispatch units by simply dragging the unit to an incident area.

The map-based utilities allow users to modify their beat in minutes instead of days. This industry-leading design translates into shorter training cycles, more efficient use of resources and more effective protection of lives and property.

Additional functionality being integrated into the VisiCAD for Law Enforcement system includes:

--Self-learning vehicle recommendation -- uses historical travel

times to route the closest vehicle for quicker response.

--Dynamic resource management -- dispatchers can allocate

personnel resources and vehicles to an incident in a fraction

of the time it took before.

--Self-initiated incidents -- using friendly command line

entries or point-and-click, law enforcement officers can

initiate their own incidents to handle traffic stops,

investigations and other similar officer activity.

--Records management -- multilayered mul·ti·lay·ered
