American Tower Corporation Announces Agreement With Illinois PCS, a Sprint PCS Affiliate, to Acquire 75 Communications Sites.

:AMT See vPro. ) announced today that it has entered into a purchase agreement to acquire approximately 75 communications sites in central and southern Illinois from Illinois PCS (1) (Personal Communications Services) Refers to wireless services that emerged after the U.S. government auctioned commercial licenses in 1994 and 1995. The 75 sites, currently under construction, with the majority anticipated to be completed by the end of 1999, will expand the Sprint PCS digital wireless service area managed by Illinois PCS. This acquisition will allow American Tower to continue its rapid growth in the region and provide greater leasing opportunities for Illinois PCS and other wireless carriers.
