American Tire to Test PowerLinx for New Trucks.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- PowerLinx, Inc. (OTC: PWLX), today announced that its DC power-line camera system will be tested on new delivery vehicles leased by American Tire Distributors over the next two to three months.

The PowerLinx camera system for trucks, Power Line Vision Systems, eliminates video cables, instead using the vehicle's DC wiring to transmit video images of the vehicle's "blind spots" to an LCD monitor screen in the cab.

If testing goes well, all new delivery-truck leases by American Tire will specify the PowerLinx PLC rear vision system. According to James Markus, PowerLinx VP / General Manager of Transportation Technology, "Our Power Line Vision Systems system with its 'cable-free' technology offers significant maintenance benefits when compared with traditional cabled systems," he said. "The fact there is no on going maintenance to our system keeps our customers' trucks on the road instead of sitting in maintenance bays."

American Tire Distributors has 71 distribution centers and a fleet of 700 trucks covering 36 US states. They lease about 100 new trucks each year. Rick Faunce, Director of Safety, stated: "We looked at several different types of obstacle avoidance equipment and found the PowerLinx system provided the most effective assistance to our drivers. A picture on the cab monitor, rather than an alarm or flashing light, eliminates the blind spots behind and on the passenger side of their vehicle."
