American Tire Distributors to Expand across the Sunbelt.


CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- American Tire Distributors, Inc. ("American Tire Distributors") announced today that they have executed an agreement to acquire Texas Market Tire, Inc., dba Big State Tire Supply ("Big State"). This will expand American Tire Distributors' service across Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico New Mexico, state in the SW United States. At its northwestern corner are the so-called Four Corners, where Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah meet at right angles; New Mexico is also bordered by Oklahoma (NE), Texas (E, S), and Mexico (S). .

Big State operates nine distribution centers in the following locations: Lubbock, TX; McAllen, TX; Amarillo, TX; San Angelo San Angelo (săn ăn`jəlō), city (1990 pop. 84,474), seat of Tom Green co., W Tex., where two forks join to form the Concho River; laid out 1869, inc. 1903. , TX; Carrolton, TX; Tyler TX; San Marcos San Marcos (săn mär`kəs).

Mel Shook and Jerry Hale, founders of Big State, will continue to manage American Tire Distributors' Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico markets.
