Manufacturing Operations in Huntington Station, NY Receive Prestigious ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Registration Certificate

AMERICAN TECHNICAL CERAMICS CORP. (AMEX:AMK), a leading manufacturer of high-performance electronic components, including capacitors and thin film circuits for a broad range of commercial and military applications, today announced that it has been recognized for its commitment to environmental excellence. American Technical Ceramics' manufacturing operations of high reliability, high frequency, surface mount, multilayer ceramic capacitors located in Huntington Station, New York received certification to the ISO 14001:1996 Environmental Management Standard. This certification is in addition to the ISO 9001 Quality Management certification that ATC received in 1997.

To achieve the voluntary certification, ATC's facilities in Huntington Station underwent a rigorous, independent auditing process conducted by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. The audits examined the Company's environmental management systems for conformity to the standard's requirements. The comprehensive process addressed all aspects of the Company's operations in Huntington Station ranging from its safety audits and emergency response systems to efforts to ensure recycling and the reduction of trash produced at the facilities.
