American Systems Corporation Recognized by State Department as Valued Partner.

CHANTILLY, Va. -- American Systems Corporation (ASC) announced today that it was among 11 companies recognized by the State Department in a special awards ceremony at the Harry S. Truman Building in Washington, D.C. last week. ASC was honored for exemplary performance over the past three years in providing Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) services to the Bureau of Consular Affairs. The State Department recognized ASC as a valued partner that has helped lead Consular Affairs (CA) into the 21st century of software development and integration.

The top award went to Quick Protective Systems (QPS), a company from Stuart, Florida that patented a disposable mask used for protection in the event of a chemical-biological attack. Secretary Colin Powell presented the award to QPS President Todd Resnick. Assistant Secretary for Administration William A. Eaton presented Awards for Excellence to the runners up. Elliot Needleman, American Systems Corporation's CEO, was on hand to accept the runner-up award from Secretary Eaton (see photo attached).

The Department of State has been recognizing small businesses for their excellence in support to the Department for 10 years. American Systems Corporation was one of 11 companies nominated by 8 Bureaus in 2004 for activities during the 2003 fiscal year. ASC was nominated by the Bureau of Consular Affairs for continued excellence in supporting development and deployment efforts for software applications supporting passport, visa, and overseas citizen services provisioning. ASC has supported the State Department's efforts as the IV&V contractor for Consular Affairs since October 2000. Since that time, the ASC Rosslyn office effort has grown from 7 to 30 people, with continued growth anticipated.
