American Systems Corporation Awarded Training Contract by Northrop Grumman.


CHANTILLY, Va. -- An American Systems Corporation (ASC ASC Ambulatory surgery center, see there ) team has been awarded a Phase I contract by Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) is an aerospace and defense conglomerate that is the result of the 1994 purchase of Grumman by Northrop. The company is the third largest defense contractor for the U.S.  Corporation to design and develop training system courseware processes and tools used to produce courseware that will train future pilots and maintainers of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter A strike fighter is a fighter aircraft which is also capable of attacking surface targets, including ships. It differs from an attack aircraft in that the aircraft remains a capable fighter. . ASC teamed with Applica Training Systems located in Norway and Delex Systems, Inc. located in Vienna, VA. The team is one of six suppliers selected to undertake courseware development projects.

The ASC Team will participate in the design and development of courseware methodologies and tools to be used in the production of training lessons and associated materials for F-35 pilots and maintainers. This Phase I effort extends though September 2006. Phase II, scheduled to commence in fall 2006, will start actual courseware production.

The F-35 is a next-generation stealth fighter being developed for the U.S. Air Force, the U. S. Navy, the U. S. Marine Corps, the U. K. Royal Air Force, the U. K. Royal Navy, and seven other partner countries (Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, Denmark, Norway, Australia, and Turkey). The F-35 will have three variants: A conventional take-off and landing variant referred to as CTOL CTOL Conventional Takeoff & Landing

, a short take-off and vertical landing variant referred to as the STOVL STOVL short takeoff and vertical landing aircraft (US DoD) , and a carrier variant referred to as the CV.
