American Steamship Company Names Charles Neigebauer 2004 Outstanding Mariner.BUFFALO, N.Y. -- American Steamship Company (ASC ASC Ambulatory surgery center, see there ), a unit of GATX GATX General American Transportation Corporation Financial Corporation, announced today that Charles B. Neigebauer has been named recipient of ASC's 2004 Outstanding Mariner Award. Mr. Neigebauer is a Bosun on the M/V M/V Motor Vehicles M/V Motor Vessel M/V Merchant Vessel St. Clair. ASC presents the Outstanding Mariner Award annually to an employee, nominated by his or her peers, whose performance exemplifies the spirit of dedication, commitment to excellence and results-oriented drive that are the foundation of the American Steamship Company. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. of ASC, said, "Through the Outstanding Mariner program, ASC recognizes shipboard and office personnel who have distinguished themselves through meritorious service. Charles' 24 years of service to ASC are deeply appreciated and I am pleased to present him with this recognition from his company and his peers." In nominating Mr. Neigebauer, his shipmates Shipmates was an American syndicated television show that ran for two seasons from 2001 - 2003. Reruns later ran on the cable channel Spike TV. The show was created by Hurricane Entertainment and the executive producer was John Tomlin. Chris Hardwick was the host. stated, "Charles is a valued employee who is always willing and able to work with all crewmembers. He is a leader with a positive attitude, and his focus on the safety and well being of the crew and vessel is evident at all times." Mr. Neigebauer joined ASC in 1980 and was assigned to the St. Clair in 1986. He was made Bosun in 2001, leading the personnel working on deck. Mr. Neigebauer lives in Dade City, FL with his wife, Sondra, who is also a sailor with the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command A major command of the US Navy, and the US Transportation Command's component command responsible for designated common-user sealift transportation services to deploy, employ, sustain, and redeploy US forces on a global basis.
