American Seed Trade Association (ASTA).Dr. Harry B. Collins, VP of Technology Transfer at Delta and Pine Land Co., is elected Chairman of the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA). Assisting Collins in leadership roles will be First Vice Chair Mike Peterson, Pres, Peterson Genetics, Cedar Falls Cedar Falls, city (1990 pop. 34,298), Black Hawk co., N Iowa, on the Cedar River; inc. 1854. It developed as a milling center in the late 19th-century after the coming of the railroad; its name is derived from the cedar tree. Largely residential, the city has light manufacturing. Cedar Falls is the seat of the Univ. of Northern Iowa and of the Evangelical Campgrounds, scene of the annual Interdenominational Bible Conference., IA; and Second Vice Chair, Kelly Keithly, CEO / Pres of Keithly-Williams Seeds, Yuma Yuma, indigenous people of North AmericaYuma (y ` mə), Native North Americans whose language belongs to the Yuman branch of the Hokan-Siouan linguistic stock (see Native American languages)., AZ. Also at ASTA, Lisa J. Dry is named VP, Public Affairs, where she will be responsible for creating an outreach and education program for ASTA's public audiences which include its members, growers and the media. Dry most recently served as Dir of Comms for the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). She held similar positions at the Animal Health Institute and the National Pork Producers Council. She has also worked with American Cyanamid and New York City-based advertising and public relations firms. |
