American Science and Engineering, Inc. Receives Two International Orders from China and a European Customs Agency for its ZBV Technology; Orders from Nuctech and Customs Agency Total $3.3 Million.

(NASDAQ: ASEI) (AS&E(R)), a worldwide leader in X-ray detection technology, announced today orders for multiple units of the Z(R) Backscatter Van(TM) (ZBV) X-ray sub-system from China, and an order for a single ZBV X-ray screening system from a major European Customs Agency for port applications. The total value of these orders is $3.3 million.

The ZBV subsystems are the second order from Nuctech Company Limited (Nuctech), a value added reseller for AS&E in China. In December 2005, AS&E entered into a marketing and distribution partnership for the ZBV with Nuctech, a worldwide leading research and development enterprise and manufacturer of cargo X-ray inspection systems. The ZBV sub-system is a pre-assembled X-ray platform that contains AS&E proprietary software and hardware and is easily integrated with a local vehicle chassis.
