The patent is directed to x-ray inspection systems that employ both backscatter and transmission detection to screen luggage, parcels, baggage, and other items. Under the terms of a settlement agreement, AS&E has granted the defendants a limited license under the patent commencing later this year. Other terms of the settlement agreement are confidential.
